Did you see the photograph and article in The Guardian Newspaper 19 September?
We have managed two articles in The Guardian in a few months which is a fabulous achievement for a small group. The article was featuring Headway Rotherham and the uphill struggle we have in raising funds. We have had two offers of help as a direct result of the article.

We apologise for mentioning finance again but you know from our recent Newsletters that we are desperately in need of funds. We need funds to maintain the Information & Advocacy Project which means paying salaries and running costs. This project is vital to our members. We also need funds to support all our activities and events.

We have made 28 applications for funding since October 2006 and have only been successful in two:

* Lloyds TSB has offered a grant of £25,000 for salaries
* South Yorkshire Key Fund has offered a grant of £9,700, also for salaries.
We are indebted to both these funders as these grants will keep the project going for another year.

We are most grateful to many other people who have donated so generously:
* Our thanks again to those who have responded to the Standing Order Forms. 8 families are now contributing a total of £91 per month - £1,092 per year. If you haven’t yet done so please consider it seriously. It is an excellent way of raising funds. Just complete the form with any amount of your choice and send it in to us or to your bank.
* Thanks to the Rawmarsh & Parkgate Ladies’ Darts League for their generous donation of £450
* Thanks to the Capgemini Company, for a donation of £267.75. Thanks to John Raybould for setting this up.
* To the Webb Family for their generous donation of £50.00.

* To the Johnson, Baggott & Newton Families for the donations from their collecting boxes

We have suggested three ways in which you can help:
* You can make a direct donation of any amount
* You can set up a Standing Order to contribute an amount each month
* You can use the collecting box which was enclosed with your August newsletter. This can be used at home to put in your small, or large, change. Then pass it on to any committee member.

Next month we will enclose Legacy Leaflets so that you can include Headway Rotherham in your will.

Sponsored Events Another way to raise money is to do a sponsored event. Anything from a sponsored bike ride, walk, swim or even take part in our organised abseils. Headway Rotherham will be supply personalised sponsorship forms for you.

Gift Aid
If you are a tax payer and wish to make a donation to Headway Rotherham, you can complete one of our Gift Aid Forms or just make a phone call to us. We can then reclaim the tax immediately (currently an additional 27% on top of your donation) for the benefit of Headway Rotherham. We can also advise companies on how they can increase their gift to us through tax relief.

Legacies
If you wish to leave a legacy to Headway, you can do so when you make your will, or by amending an existing will. If you need assistance please contact us.
